The Lagos State Agriculture and Input Supply Authority (LAISA) has organised a training programme on the use of modern farming implements and fertilizers to increase productivity for vegetable farmers at the Ojo Barracks, Lagos.
The training was organised by the Lagos State Government through LAISA, in collaboration with Golden Penny Fertilizers – a renowned producer of agricultural products and fertilizers in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of LAISA, Mr. Bolaji Balogun said the State Government remains committed to supporting farmers to ensure improved performance on their farms and make the State self-sufficient in food production.
The General Manager emphasised that if the productivity of farmers is enhanced, it will be possible for them to support and aid the rapid rural development policy of the present administration across the State.
Balogun added that the training was aimed at teaching the farmers the appropriate agricultural chemicals, fertilizers and seeds vital for improved yield on their individual farms, emphasising that such chemicals must not be harmful to humans who will eventually consume the produce.
The Secretary of the Vegetable Farmers, Mr. Jola Sanmi Olukayode, who spoke on behalf of the participants, expressed the farmers’ delight at the training and sought for further exposure to new ideas on successful farming in Lagos.
He appreciated the Lagos State Government for always showing concern for the farmers and their business activities.
