… As New Obas Get Staff of Office

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has urged all Traditional Rulers in the State to maintain peace and tranquility in their various Communities, just as he presented Staff of Office and Instruments of Appointment to the two newly selected Obas in Ikosi Ejinrin Local Council Development Area of the State.

Ambode, speaking at the installation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Mushafau Abdul as Olofin Ajaiye of Orugbo Iddo kingdom and His Royal Majesty, Oba Nelson Aderemi Obayomi Ogunlari as Olowu of Owu-Ikosi, implored them to focus on developing their communities as well as promote peace among their subjects.

According to him, “As custodians of the culture and tradition of your people, you should be seen as a rallying point for the maintenance of communal peace and social development”.

The Governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Muslim Olohuntele Folami, also urged the youths and residents of the communities to guide jealously all infrastructural amenities provided by the State Government for the betterment of their communities and desist from cultism or any form of hooliganism.

He promised that the Government will not rest on its oars in bringing infrastructural development nearer to the residents, and urged them to see the traditional institution as a rallying point for the generality of the people, regardless of the advent of modernism.

While urging the people in the Communities to accord unalloyed support to the new monarchs to enable them to continue to safeguard the sanctity of the sacred and highly reserved institution, Ambode implored the residents to be more responsive to their civic responsibilities by paying their taxes as at when due.

The Governor said in doing so, the government would sustain the socio-economic growth and transformation being witnessed across the State.
