. . . Says Government Will Increase Budgetary Allocation To Education
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has hinted that the education sector’s allocation in the coming year’s budget will reflect the present administrations’ commitment to an improved learning environment as well as an enhanced standard of education in the State.
The Deputy Governor made the disclosure today at the commissioning of educational institutions including St. Mary Model Nursery/Primary School, Fr. Sadiku Memorial Nursery/Primary School, Oba Abdul-Fatai Aromire Library and ICT Centre and some sporting facilities in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hamzat emphasised that the government places a high premium on the education of pupils, maintaining that children must be educated in good environments for the standard of education to improve.
According to him, “what is important for us is education and it is fundamental to the development of the State; you will see a big increase in education budget”.
While stressing that the government needs to get it right at the primary level, being the foundation of education, the Deputy Governor disclosed that approval has been granted for the procurement of tablets for all primary school teachers in the State to aid understanding and improve their teaching skills.
“Education is one of the most important things we must do as a society; we cannot afford to have functional illiterates, it is essential to have children that are well educated in a good environment. I thank the Chairman and the entire management of this Local Government Area for embarking on the initiative to build the commissioned facilities” he stated.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman, Mr. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola expressed his administration’s passion for the process of development among adolescents, hence the resolve to provide a comfortable learning environment for the kids in the area.
He restated his commitment to transforming communities in the local government as part of a greater Lagos, promising that his administration will continue to advance new leadership templates on grassroots governance in the local government.
Noting his excitement at the prospects of doing more for the benefit of the people in the area, Ayoola solicited for the assistance of the State government for the repair and maintenance of Mba/Cardoso Road, dualisation of Kirikiri Road, provision of well-equipped schools and initiating empowerment programmes for youths and women in the community.
