The General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Radio has congratulated the newly appointed Chairman and members of the State Civil Service Commission, saying the appointments are well deserved and their leadership qualities will impact positively on the activities of the Commission.
Speaking during a congratulatory visit to the Civil Service Commission by a delegation from the Station, Akanle said “We are here to rejoice with you, especially as you have an amazon among you and her achievements at the Lagos State Staff Development Centre shows that she is a square peg in a square hole”.
“The Chairman has been a mentor in the past 12-13 months since my assumption as General Manager in redefining our Vision, Mission and Core Values, which have been the driving force for our day to day operations”, Akanle added.
He informed that Traffic Radio for the first time in seven years was nominated as one of the three best stations in Nigeria, attributing the feat to the changed mindset of the Station’s staff and its business processes for positive results.
The General Manager said the Station has since experienced an increase in its online presence as it moved from 4,000 in 2018 to 26,000 likes on Facebook, 12,000 to 34,000 followers on Twitter and 4,000 to7, 000 followers on Instagram.
Responding, the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabanwo, thanked the delegation for the visit and urged the management and staff to come up with new ideas and tap into the knowledge sharing initiative of the State Government – “A Disruptive S.H.I.F.T” – in order to improve on its results.
Fabamwo, who received the visiting team alongside, her Vice Chairman, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi and other members of the Commission, described Traffic Radio as a great and helpful tool which helps residents navigate well, adding that there is always room for improvement.
In her words, “The mindset towards the Station’s mission and vision must change in order to move activities of the management forward and by so doing the State can boast of another success in Traffic Radio”.
”Traffic Radio has a long way to go still, I am happy that it was nominated as one of the three best stations in Nigeria during the 2019 Nigerian Media Merit Awards but there is more to be done in terms of thinking in line with the government’s ‘Disruptive S.H.I.F.T’ initiative”, she added.
She, however, assured the visiting team of the Commission’s full support and collaboration in order to bring the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda to full manifestation.
