2023 ELECTIONS: GENERAL HOSPITAL SOMOLU HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS MEETING
As part of efforts aimed at ensuring peaceful and successful polls in Lagos State, the Somolu General Hospital has held a stakeholders’ meeting with community leaders within the Somolu Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking during the meeting, the Medical Director/CEO of the Hospital, Dr. Saliu Oseni charged all present to ensure peaceful conduct of elections even while protecting life and property in their domain, noting that everyone stands to be impacted by the outcome.
Dr. Oseni stated that there is a need to maintain the tranquillity being enjoyed in the neighbourhood, imploring the DPO Onipanu Police Station, CSP Kehiende Oladeji and his team to be more vigilant and proactive in the days ahead to avoid uprisings of any form. He noted that all hands must be on deck in ensuring a peaceful co-existence and understanding within the Somolu Community and the State in general ahead of the elections.
He also explained that the need to eschew violence cannot be overemphasised as the sanctity of life, property and economic growth remain vital to the progress and development of every society.
The Medical Director averred the event was also designed to update the gathering on the modest transformation projects undertaken within available resources by the facility towards better service delivery to members of the community since his assumption of office in the last six months.
According to him, “In order to function as a conducive health hub, a twin waiting area was constructed to serve customers, especially pregnant women; A dietitian had been engaged to provide patients with adequate nutrition advice for healthy living; Electronic Medical Records (EMR) installed for easy access to full medical records; Expansion of Operating Theatre and the building of a new ward to expand admission facility during treatment at the hospital among others”.
Responding on behalf of other participants, the Iya-loja of Somolu market, Chief (Mrs.) Modupe Olufojude said, as a mother and a leader within the community, l will continue to admonish the youths to remain law-abiding and carry out their civic responsibility with diligence.
In attendance at the event were market leaders, clergymen, law enforcement agents and management staff of the hospital including Head, Admin & HR, Mr. Solomon Soyebo; Deputy MD, Dr. Alloysius Inofomoh; Apex Nurse, Mrs. Funmi Taiwo and Service Delivery Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Mogbonjubola Otuseso.
