… TG/PS Charges Public Servants To Be Proactive In Discharge of Their Duties
The Lagos State Education District IV has organised a fitness walk and exercise for members of staff in the District, just as it charged all Public Servants in Lagos State to be proactive in carrying out their official duties at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Tutor-General/ Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District IV, Mr. Charles Adeboye Olajide, in his remarks before the commencement of the walk from the District headquarters in Sabo, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Head of Service for their support and contributions to the education sector in Lagos State.
He said: “I must commend our amiable Governor and the HoS for their support and contributions to the improvement in the education sector. As for Public Servants, I wish to implore you to always rise to the occasion in proffering solutions to issues and be proactive in dealing with future challenges that may come your way”.
“Let me also use this opportunity to appeal to you all to be committed and diligent in carrying out your official duties. This would not only enhance the academic performance of the students, it would also help in the actualisation of the T.H.E.M.E.S. development agenda of the present administration”, Olajide noted.
Also speaking at the event, Director, Co-Curricular Science and Technology, Mr. Muyideen Apatira, applauded the TG/PS for giving the staff of the district an opportunity to exercise as many do not have an opportunity to do so after a hard day’s work.
“It is imperative that we create time out of our busy schedule to engage in one form of exercise or the other as this would help us keep fit and smart at work”, he said.
In the same vein, the Chairman, All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), Surulere Zone, Mrs. Olubunmi Babatunde, noted that the TG/PS has proven himself to be a good leader since assuming the mantle of leadership at the district, adding that the fitness walk is a laudable initiative aimed at ensuring that teachers keep fit.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mainland Zone, Mr. Femi Adedeji, advised teachers to put the exercise routines learnt into practice in their various homes, appealing that the District should ensure the Fitness Walk holds once or twice a month to ease off stress encountered during daily activities as sound minds live in sound bodies.
The Fitness Walk and exercise, coordinated by Miss. Folasade Ademola, an aerobics instructor from Healthy Living Limited, saw participants walking from the District Headquarters to Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba before another session of exercises.
