PSSDC TASKS PUBLIC SERVANTS ON ADOPTION OF ICT IN SERVICE DELIVERY

The Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Dr. Senukon Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison, has tasked Public Servants to continue to upscale the adoption of 21stCentury technologies and other ICT tools if they must contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the T.H.E.M.E.S Development Agenda of the State Government.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a three-day learning and development programme titled “Introduction to 21stCentury Management Skills and Communication”, Ajose-Harrison stated that technology has become important because of the monumental changes it has brought into work processes, adding that as the implementation arm of government policies, public servants must keep abreast of current practices that bear on their service delivery.

While noting that the global changes have compelled individuals, business organisations and governments to become re-invented, networked and market-driven, he expressed the need for the Public Service to continue to adopt appropriate technology to deliver excellent services that meet the yearnings of the teeming populace.

Ajose-Harrison told participants, who are staff of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), that as players in the Traffic Management and Transportation pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, the adoption of the 21st Century Skills would aid their contributions to the sustenance of the multi-modal transportation masterplan of the State, advising that they should pay adequate attention to the various sessions that have been put together for the programme.

He further assured the participants that a team of seasoned and experienced facilitators will lead them in topics including the overview of the Lagos State Development Plan and the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, Essentials of Public Service Management in Lagos State, Managing Public Service Methods and Sources of Communication, among others.

Encouraging the participants to engage fully in all sessions in order to benefit from the wealth of experience of the facilitators, the Director-General said the training experience would lead to an effective deployment of digital skills, communication effectiveness and result-oriented work in LASWA and in the State Public Service.
