SALLAH CELEBRATION: LASDRI BOSS CAUTIONS MOTORING PUBLIC

… Urges Residents To Be Safety Conscious During, After Sallah Celebration

The General Manager of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, has urged the motoring public to be safety conscious during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Tiamiyu made the call during an On-site Drivers’ Recertification Exercise/Enlightenment programme held for professional drivers registered under the umbrella of Allied Truck Transporters Association of Nigeria (ATTAN), Ojota Branch, recently.

She specifically appealed to commercial drivers not to turn the road to a racing track, while trying to make multiple trips within a day to maximise profit, especially during this period when there would be an increase in travels by the populace.

While imploring motorists to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles to avoid hindering traffic flow, she gave an assurance that the government will continue to put roads in good shape to ease commuting for all road users.

The General Manager listed the three ‘Cs’ in driving which all drivers must strictly adhere to as Concentration, Consideration and Caution, advising drivers to adequately prepare for each journey during and beyond the Eid-el-Kabir celebration by being in the right frame of mind as well as taking a deserved rest when necessary.

She further reiterated the importance of undergoing the annual mandatory training exercise at LASDRI, stressing that hundreds of road users’ lives are protected once a driver is trained.

Tiamiyu admonished the motoring public to continually abide by the COVID-19 safety guidelines issued by the State Government and the Federal Government to remain safe, healthy and also curtail the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

She also felicitated with Muslim faithful on this year’s Sallah celebration, noting that the celebration borders on virtue, sacrifice and love.
