BOS ADMINISTRATION      ACHIEVEMENTS (2019-DATE)

EDUCATION

• Launched the EKO-EXCEL [Excellence in Child Education & Learning] programme aimed at transforming teaching and learning in public primary schools via technology.
• Trained 9,207 teachers from 762 primary schools (out of 1,016) under the EKO EXCEL initiative
• Recruited over 4,000 teachers for public primary and secondary schools in the State.
• Supplied 86,000 dual furniture sets to 775 public schools
• Constructed 70 new school buildings
• Renovated 197 public schools
• Built eight new hostel blocks in the state-owned boarding schools.
• Provided 1400 hostel beds for Lagos Model Colleges.
• Constructed eight Watch Towers with Alarm Bells and Perimeter Fences in Model Colleges.
• Provided 61,000 units of single-dual composite furniture for secondary schools.
• Provided 87,000 units of single-dual for primary school pupils spread across the six Education Districts.
• Procured 36,000 mobile devices for students and teachers for mobile learning.
• Inaugurated Lagos State Teachers’ Merit Award aimed at rewarding excellent performance and dedication.
• Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu won the Best School in the Public Senior Secondary School Category in Nigeria during the annual President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award ceremony in commemoration of the World Teachers’ Day, on the 5th of October, 2020 in Abuja.
• Pupils from Lagos State Public Primary Schools won the Year 2020 Presidential Inter-SUBEB School Debate, Nigeria, held in Abuja in commemoration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day Anniversary.
• Paid N215 million death benefits to beneficiaries of the deceased staff of LASUBEB.
• Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) launched Lagos Learns Together, an initiative aimed at promoting learning by leveraging on technology.
• Distributed equipment and consumable materials to public primary school vocational centres in the 20 Local Government Education Areas of the State.
• Organized the 2020 Public-Private Partnership [PPP] Dialogue – a strategic initiative aimed at bringing together all key stakeholders, public, private and Non-Governmental Organizations [NGOs] to improve education in the State.
• Implemented the Home Grown School Feeding Programme through which a total of 135,445 pupils are fed daily in 976 primary schools across the State.
• Distributed free water bottles to State Public Primary Schools for the Home Grown School Feeding programme.

Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE)

• Remodeled the former CODE LAGOS initiatives to the Eko Digital Skills initiative.
• A total of 191,161 youths have benefitted from the Eko Digital Skills in different fields of computer studies.
• Introduced new computer courses such as python, Internet of things, cloud computing, CCNA V7 (Networking), Cyber security essentials etc to the Eko Digital Skill initiative.
• Rehabilitated and fully equipped 8 digital skills centres at Meiran, Ilupeju, Isolo, Yaba, Tech-Quest Ebute-Meta, Rotary Centre Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Old Secretariat, GRA, Ikeja and Epe
• Established and fully equipped 9 vocational/entrepreneurial skills centers to train young graduates to become entrepreneurs.
• 3017 graduates /youths have benefited from free vocational training program organized by the Agency for Mass Education in the last two years.
• Trained and graduated 60,169 adult learners in the last two years.
• Remodeled the former Ready .Set .Work to Job Initiative Lagos (JIL), which targets penultimate and final year students of the state owned institutions. 
• 60,202 students benefited had benefitted from the JIL in the last two years
• Secured collaboration with one of the best universities in the United States of America to jointly run 16 professional certificate programs known as LASU/CORNELL professional certificate programs
• Established LASU Business School to run MBA Executive programs
• Renovated and digitalized 198 public school libraries across the state’s 6 Educational Districts.
• Disbursed a total sum of  (N494,930,930.44) Four Hundred and Ninety Four  Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty  Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty  Naira and Forty Four Kobo Only to a total  number of 18, 274 Students as Bursary Award.
• Disbursed a total sum of (N 499,003,487.96) Four Hundred and Ninety Nine Million, Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Eighty Seven Naira and Ninety Six Kobo Only as Scholarship Award to total of 2,878 students in various Higher Institutions of learning.
• The Bills for establishing two additional State Universities, University of Education and University of Science and Technology, have passed second reading at the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly, while the Assembly has held public hearing on the proposed bills.
• Construction of 4000 units of 11 flats for workers and staff of LASU to ease the accommodation problem is about 80% completed.
• Construction of 8,272 units of ultra-modern students Residential Village awarded to six contractors for quick delivery is ongoing.
• Construction of 460 seater lecture theatre at MOCPED, Epe is at 75% completion.
• Completion of new students’ Arcade in LSAU.
• Construction of new of administrative block at AOCOED Ijanikin is 80% completed.
• Construction of new LASPOTECH administrative block ongoing. 
• Construction of LAGOS State College of Health Technology Multipurpose hall is ongoing.
• Construction of a Model and International Faculty of Education for LASU on going
• Increased subventions for all tertiary institutions in the State. These include LASU, ACOED and MOCPED, for effective administration and management.
• Approved solar panel street light  installation for about 6.9 kilometres to illuminate the entire LASU Ojo campus for safety and conducive learning environment.
• Successfully evacuated Lagos students from the University of Jos from the war troubled communities in Jos during crises
• Created enabling environment for quality research and academic excellence that made LASU to be ranked as the 2020/21 Second Best University in Nigeria, among the best 500 institutions in the world , and Best State University in Nigeria
• LASPOTECH is also currently ranked the 3rd  Best  Polytechnic in Nigeria by Webometric Ranking Organisation in Spain
• Renovated and fully equipped 4 public libraries in Epe, Badagry, Ikorodu and Igbogbo Bayeku

TECHNOLOGY

• Implemented fibre metro network – 3,000 km of fibre connection across the State to promote security.

• Earmarked N250 million seed-capital for technology and innovation tech start-ups and to give young innovators in the state the opportunity to push their entrepreneurial skills to the next level.
• Launched the State’s Innovation Master Plan.
• Established the Lagos State Science Research & Innovation Council [LASRIC] to drive investment in research and development of tech-focused solutions across the THEMES agenda.
• Organized the Art of Technology (AOT) Lagos 1.0 and 2.0 Conference that had in attendance 1,500 young innovators and tech solutions developers.
• Designed and implemented on-line recruitment portal with computer based testing capability for TESCOM, SUBEB, and the College of Nursing.
• Participated in the Africa Smart Towns Network [ASTON] project, which seeks to harness 12 – African cities’ capacities to improve technologically by sharing ideas and using tested methodologies as practiced in developed nations.
• Trained 2500 Secondary School teachers in scenario planning based on remote learning and teaching classroom post COVID-19 measures.
• Renovated 20 libraries and ICT centers in secondary schools across the state’s 6 Education Districts.
• Approved e-learning infrastructure for state-owned tertiary institutions.
• Constructed a 500-seater CBT center at LASU in partnership with private organizations.
• Upgraded the GIS, which provides a fully mapping platform and an integrated end-to-end land automation system, mobile agricultural application; unmanned Aerial Vehicles-Drones and Spatia Data infrastructure.
• Ensured facilitation and proper reconciliation of all payments and collections across all revenue generating MDAs in the state.
• Launched the Campus Network Upgrade Overview, which connects thousands of computers from all MDAs within and around the Secretariat for e-government operations.
• Improved online collaborative solutions-Office 360
• Facilitated the first a virtual State Executive Council meeting in the State and country as a whole.
