EID-EL KABIR: LASDRI FELICITATES WITH MOTORING PUBLIC
… Appeals For Patience, Safety Consciousness During Salah Celebration
The General Manager of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has felicitated the motoring public on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration and also urged them to be more patient and safety conscious while driving during and beyond this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, noting that the significance of the celebration borders on virtue, sacrifice and love.
Tiamiyu, who stated this in a Salah greetings message to the motoring public, specifically appealed to commercial drivers not to turn the road to a racing track while trying to make multiple trips within a day in an effort to maximise profit, especially during this period when there would be an increase in travels by the populace.
She stated that the present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu understands and shares the pain motorists might be going through as a result of road diversions caused by ongoing construction work which is being experienced by motorists in some parts of the state.
She, however, appealed for more patience and understanding from the motorists as a result of these diversions, especially on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, saying there is no gain without pain and that the project is already nearing completion.
While commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration for not resting on its oars towards making sure that Lagos roads are in good condition, especially during this rainy season, she, however, implored that any vehicle plying Lagos road during this period and beyond should be in proper working condition so as not to cause unnecessary impediments and thereby hinder the free flow of traffic.
She also appealed to them to avoid plying one-way, obey traffic rules and regulations, check and maintain their vehicles regularly to ensure their good working condition and correct every abnormality on their vehicles. “The brakes of your vehicles should be in proper condition to avoid unnecessary accidents due to the slippery nature of the roads during this rainy season”, she stressed.
The General Manager advised drivers to be adequately prepared for each journey undertaken during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration by not only ensuring being in the right frame of mind but by taking their rest when due. “And if the journey you want to embark on is not all that important, it can be postponed due to the volume of traffic that will be experienced during the Salah celebration”, she added.
Tiamiyu further reiterated the importance of undergoing their annual training exercise at LASDRI which is mandatory, stressing that once a driver is trained, hundreds of road users’ lives are protected.
