The Lagos State Government is committed to investing and re-training its workforce without sparing any expenses.
The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo made this remark during a recent courtesy visit by the International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators to the Ministry.
The visit was aimed at collaborating with the Ministry in the area of research and training development programmes as well as to officially confer the Honorary Fellowship, the highest recognition of the Association, on the Commissioner.
Whilst appreciating the team for the honorary fellowship, Ayantayo reiterated the importance of research for economic growth and development and emphasised how research has made Lagos State the outstanding State in Nigeria through training programmes undergone by its staff.
He assured the Association of a mutual relationship, hoping that the relationship would yield and enhance the capacity building of staff, which would further enhance the economic growth and development of the state.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun restated the assurance to collaborate with the Association and build positive synergy for both parties.
Abidakun promised that the Ministry would participate in the Association’s upcoming programmes, which include the 9th Annual International Conference on Education, Research and New Development scheduled to hold at PSSDC between 14th and 15th November, 2024 and the International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation would be in the United States of America in 2025.
The President of the Association, Prof. Akin Ogunsakin disclosed that the Association was seeking a strategic partnership with the Ministry in the area of research and training development programmes that will reskill the State’s workforce.
Present at the meeting were the Director-General, Public Service Staff Development Centre, Mr. Adio-Moses, who doubles as Global Deputy President (IARSA); Director, Lagos Bureau of Statistics, Mr. Bashiru Ope, who doubles as 2nd Vice President of the Association; Director Industrial Relations, Ms. Anne Kushimo and Director. Establishments, Mrs. Bukola Olagbaju.
