EBUTE METTA GH CELEBRATES WORLD PATIENT SAFETY DAY

Ebute Metta General marked the 2024 World Patient Safety Day alongside other healthcare facilities across the world in promoting safer patient care.

To commemorate the day, the Medical Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Folakemi Irewole-Ojo, led an awareness walk around the hospital facility, visiting different departments and service points and engaging patients and healthcare providers on the importance of accurate diagnosis in ensuring patient safety.

Dr. Irewole-Ojo highlighted the need for collaboration between clinicians and patients in achieving accurate diagnoses, noting that the theme for the year 2024 celebration, “Improving diagnosis for patient safety”, aligns with the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services.

She encouraged patients to be open and honest about their medical history, as accurate information is crucial for guiding physicians in making the right treatment decisions.

The Medical Director also visited doctors’ consulting rooms, where she emphasised the importance of thorough patient examination and active listening. She reminded the doctors to adhere to the Lagos State government health procedures and standards while attending to patients.

While commending the dedication and commitment of the hospital staff to providing excellent healthcare services, the Medical Director stressed the importance of empathy in patient interactions.
