In its bid to enhance the critical roles that Engineering and Materials Testing plays towards the development and progress of Infrastructure across the Metropolis, the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) has formed a groundwork of knowledge acquisition with the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN).
Speaking at a recent meeting with Engr. Funmi Kadiri, Managing Director of ACEN, the General Manager of LSMTL, Engr. Olayinka Abdul disclosed that the integrity of designed structures relies heavily on quality materials tests, hence the need to expand knowledge and skills in tune with existing best practices.
She said, “This proposed training is an invaluable opportunity to enhance the ingenuity of our personnel in their chosen profession to stay abreast of the latest advancements in Materials Testing and Engineering practices. The facilitators of the Association for Consulting Engineers of Nigeria have so much demonstrated their professional excellence to exude their wealth of expertise in posing tremendous resources at ensuring the realisation of this vision”.
While recounting the essence of the training, the General Manager stated that the partnership with ACEN will create a robust network of professionals who are committed to elevating Engineering standards to ensure Lagos State continues to build on a foundation of quality, safety and innovation.
She maintained that collaboration and knowledge sharing are vital facets for the growth of professionals in the advancement of the Engineering sector, especially within the built industry.
According to Engr. Funmi Kadiri, the Managing Director of ACEN, the training will cultivate optimal checks of construction materials, to ascertain their authenticity in averting disaster.
She said, “I am reviewing the method and procedures of conducting tests; results will be adequately interpreted using samples for accuracy to explain the status of structures, for the safety of lives and investments.
