AGRICULTURAL LAND MANAGEMENT: OGUN TEAM UNDERSTUDIES LAGOS AGENCY

The Lagos State Agricultural Land Holdings Authority (LSALHA) has received a team from the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, who are in Lagos to understudy the working process of the Authority at its Oko-Oba Head Office in Agege.

Welcoming the delegation, the Acting General Manager of LSALHA, Engr. (Mrs.) Samiat Raji reiterated the need to have a functional work process and well-planned policy and scheme classifications, such as farm estates, farm settlements, corporate allocation and investors’ initiative amongst others.

She stated that emphasis must be laid on policies that will prevent the loss of Agricultural Lands to incessant attacks from land grabbers via encroachment which always results in the abandonment of land without maximal use.

Raji also explained the interdependent roles of various departments in the Authority’s work process in conformity with the THEMES Plus agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Agricultural land provision for sustainable and affordable food production for the people of Lagos State. 

While noting that the State Government is very much concerned about food security, the Acting General Manager declared the readiness of the LSALHA to provide seamless technical operational support and advice to the visiting team from the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture.

Mr. Samuel Adeogun, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and leader of the delegation, said that the aim of the visit is to acquire new knowledge on Agricultural Land Management from Lagos; upgrade and replicate same in Ogun in line with what is obtainable in Lagos which serves as a model to other States in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary commended the Acting GM and the workforce of LSALHA for being able to successfully operate and manage Agriculture Farm Lands in the megacity of Lagos despite all challenges.
