The Lagos State government has presented benefits of insurance policies of deceased Staff of Local Government Councils across the State and Primary School Teachers in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to their families and relatives, advising the beneficiaries to judiciously use the monies for the support of the dependants.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Muslim Folami, during the presentation, disclosed that the present administration is determined to ensure regular payment of premium on life Insurance and Pensions to its workforce.
He said the presentation of death benefits to 85 beneficiaries with 35 from the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) and 50 from the Local Governments is the third in the series and it is in fulfilment of one of the campaign promises made by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode on welfare package for those in the State employ.
According to him, “I implore you all to make use of the benefits received today for the upkeep of the families the deceased left behind and most especially for the progress of the education of their children,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyinin thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his kind gesture and total commitment to the welfare of the entire Staff in Lagos State Public Service.
