The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, has tasked the Lagos State Youth Ambassadors to be guided always by the responsibility entrusted to them in order to serve as potential leaders and role models to millions of youths.
Addressing the Youth Ambassadors who visited him in his office, Ayorinde described the idea behind the Ibile Youth Academy, a leadership training platform that produced the Ambassadors, as a veritable platform to groom Nigerian youths and imbue in them values that will make them great individuals and leaders.
He noted that the diversity of names and ethnicity of the Ambassadors are pointers to the fact that Lagos State accommodates everyone and is willing to develop and harness youth talent irrespective of name, ethnicity or creed.
The Commissioner assured the Youth Ambassadors that the Ministry would provide all necessary support through the use of State-owned media stations as well as social media platforms in projecting and promoting youth programmes and activities to Lagosians.
Also speaking, Mr. Julius Olukosi, Youth Development Officer in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development who led the team stated that the Academy was designed to ignite young people’s personal development and transformation required for bright future.
According to him, selected youths will be trained annually towards improving their ability to understand and contribute to the State’s vision and policies.
He said that the ambassadors emerged after a five-day training and selection process, adding that they will lead other youths from the five Divisions of the State to conceptualize and implement pet projects in line with peculiarities of their immediate community, address youth issues and problems and serve as connection between the government and other youths in the divisions.
The Youth Ambassadors are – Lanre Promise Elijah (Ikeja Division); Oparaocha Winifred (Ikeja Divisional Ambassador); Anekwe Sarah (Badagry) Agbaje Maruf Abiola (Ikorodu), Shonibare Zainab (Lagos Division) and Badmus Oladipupo Uthman (Epe Divisional Ambassador).
