In recognition of the commitment and hard work of teachers in the State, Lagos Education District IV recently presented awards of recognition to 57 officials in three zones of the Education District.
Speaking at the award presentation held at Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary for the District, Mrs. Lola Are-Adegbite applauded the staff for working tirelessly to ensure satisfactory achievement of the goal of the 2016/2017 academic session, saying that “the intimidating progress achieved by the District is made possible by the hardworking staff.”
She expressed delight that all accrued resources deployed in teaching the students have yielded the desired results and admonished award recipients and other staff to remain committed and remain good ambassadors of the District.
The Guest Speaker, Mrs. Ama Onyerinma of Live Abundantly Empowerment Initiative likened teachers to a guidebook of lifelong developmental ethics and applauded them for being “nation-builders” in every society across the world.
According to her, “women and men who choose to embark on a career which ensures the continuity of humanity through knowledge should be celebrated”.
She urged the teachers to remain active in their discharge of wisdom and knowledge to their pupils while ensuring that they remain precise and honest in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.
One of the recipients of the special award, Mr. Ogheneovo Onajade, a visually impaired teacher from the State Junior Grammar School thanked the Lagos State Government for giving him the platform and opportunity to do what he knows how to do best and called on all teachers and school administrators to keep the vision of a better Nigeria flying.
He pledged to continue to discharge his duties with the zeal and devotion that earned him recognition for an award by the District.
