… Restates Commitment To Talent Discovery Among Youths
Lagos State Government on Thursday joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2017 edition of the International Youth Day with a promise to continually provide an opportunity for the discovery and development of natural talent among youths.
Speaking at the opening session of the week long event at the Onikan Youth Centre, Lagos, the State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile Yusuf said that the Ministry is using the celebration to unravel the hidden talents in youths by providing them the platform to display their God-given gifts through a Talent-Hunt show.
“We know that the youths are intelligent, they have what it takes to rule the world, all that they need is the atmosphere that would allow them to bring these skills to bear and that is the vacuum the Ministry is filling” she stated.
She, however, warned them to shun all forms of vices and re-examine themselves to discover inherent abilities that can elevate their status.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry is also planning to hold a self-discovery and talent hunt training programme for the participants at the event and other interested youths in the State.
She explained that the training will expose the youths to how they can improve on their performances as well as equip them with the right information and skills that would make them compete favourably with other professionals in their specific areas.
There were performances in Music, Dance, Poetry, Drama and Visual Arts by the participants at the Talent Hunt.
The International Youth Day is usually celebrated across the world on every 12th of August and the theme for this year is “Youth Building Peace”.
