The Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo has urged head of schools and administrators Education
District IV, Mainland Zone to ensure their schools are in good and safe condition preparatory to the September 11 resumption date for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Mrs. Soyombo, while leading a pre-resumption assessment team on a tour of schools within Education District IV, reiterated that Lagos State government has a primary goal of maintaining a conducive, safe and secure environment in all schools.
She emphasized the importance of fortifying the physical structures around the school environment like burglary proofs, doors and fences to complement the enhanced security being provided by the State government in primary and tertiary institutions across Lagos.
The Director-General assured teachers that the State government will continue to provide and upgrade learning tools to maintain the competitive ranking of public students in the education sector.
According to her, “We know we have good schools, we want to see them come out better. Our standard is improving but all hands must be on deck to ensure our continuous improvement.”
During the pre-resumption tour, the Director-General and her entourage also met with Senior Secondary School students at Lagos City College, Sabo – Yaba during preparatory lectures for their mock examinations to assess the quality of teaching at the school.
She expressed satisfaction at the level of preparations for the examinations, admonished the students to pay attention to details during class and also engage in reading and innovative group discussions that will help them excel in their final examinations.
