The Lagos State Government, through its Office of Education Quality Assurance, has organised a two-day training workshop on Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) for Education Districts Coordinating Directors, Heads of Departments and Zonal Directors in the State public service.
Speaking at the Workshop, the Director General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, said the programme was organised to improve the quality of technology-based data collection, information gathering, storage, dissemination, analysis, security and utilization of officers for an improved standard of education in public schools.
She declared that the Agency is determined to develop a durable and reliable database and statistical records of its activities which will help to simplify the activities of the Office in line with the State government’s policy thrust on information technology in the public service.
Mrs. Soyombo, therefore, tasked the participants to maximize the opportunity presented by the training to broaden their knowledge and improve on recent success recorded in the electronic method of data collection and information management.
She informed that some of the expected benefits of the training include improved schools performance, digital record keeping, quick-to-read evaluated reports, future projections, ease of schools identification, support and intervention.
The training sessions took participants through the process and importance of data collection in the course of carrying out Quality Assurance duties; key elements of data were highlighted and the importance of developing ICT skills was emphasized to quality assurance evaluators for easy accessibility to global information.
