Lagos State State Government has presented a 5-year development plan to make its civil service a more pragmatic, effective and transparent body with the sole responsibility of effectively serving the people of the State in particular and the country in general.
Speaking at a two-day retreat for Management and Senior staff of Civil Service Commission at Ikeja themed: “Towards A More Pragmatic Civil Service Commission”, the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Adeyinka Oyemade said it is important to ensure that the State Civil Service is a catalyst for development in Lagos.
According to her, “The proposed plan would focus on making the civil service in Lagos a more efficient, effective and transparent organization that is capable of competing on all fronts globally”.
While describing the State civil service as the strongest workforce in the country, Oyemade implored the participants to maximize the opportunity presented by the retreat to increase their knowledge of globally accepted people-oriented service delivery practices.
She also encouraged them to network amongst themselves, learn to be better team players, resolve issues affecting the discharge of their official duties and proffer solutions that will be of immense benefit to the Commission.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Taofeek Adeyemi Fashola said the retreat is aimed at emphasizing the importance of synergy and capacity building of staff as part of efforts to improve service delivery.
He urged attendees to participate actively and make the necessary contribution to all presentations in order to gain from the wealth of experience and intellectual resource of the facilitators.
