LASG IMPLORES NEWLY EMPLOYED LG OFFICERS TO EMBRACE DILIGENCE

The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr Babatunde Rotinwa; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Omobolanle Ogunmola and DIrector General, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mrs Folashade Onanuga, during the interactive session jointly organized by the Commissions for the Newly Recruited Local Government Officers and Lagos State Accredited Pension Fund Administrators held at Local Government Training School, Old Sectariat, Ikeja.

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa has implored the1,500 newly recruited officers of the Local Government Unified Service to shun complacency and other conduct capable of jeopardizing the developmental strides of the State government, especially at the grassroots.

Rotinwa stated this at an interactive session organized by the Commission in conjunction with the Lagos State Pension Commission for the newly recruited Local Government officers at Old Secretariat, Ikeja and urged them to justify their employment into the State Public Service by being dedicated and committed to their official duties.

He called on the new employees to see their employment as an opportunity to serve the populace and contribute to societal development, stressing that the satisfaction of the masses remains a priority to the present administration in the State.

“You have to justify why you have been employed by Lagos State Government. There is no room for laziness and laxity. Government business is a serious business and must be handled as such”, Rotinwa stated.

The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Establishment – Training and Pension, Mr Oluwatoyin Onisarotu; the Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission (Badagry Division), Mr Babs Akinyanmi; Director General, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mrs Folashade Onanuga; Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr Babatunde Rotinwa and Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Omobolanle Ogunmola during the interactive session jointly organized by LGSC and LASPEC for the Newly Recruited Local Government Officers and Lagos State Accredited Pension Fund Administrators.

Counselling the officers on what is expected of them by the government, Rotinwa said: “When people come to you, it is your responsibility to listen and register their complaints, by so doing you are building public confidence and trust as genuine service providers”.

The Chairman revealed that 114 Persons Living with Disabilities were among the newly recruited officers while 845 employees were from the defunct Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Omobolanle Ogunmola, congratulated the successful candidates noting that the positions were keenly contested.

Meanwhile, the Director-General, Lagos State Pension Commission, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga, who introduced the new Officers to the State Pension Fund administration, urged the employees to make an informed decision on which of the 13 Lagos State Government accredited Pension Administrators they would choose as their Pension Fund Administrator.
