NO ROOM FOR CRIMINAL HIDEOUT ON THE ISLAND, CBD BOSS ASSURES LAGOSIANS

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr Olarenwaju Elegushi has assured Lagosians doing business on the Lagos Island Business District of their safety.

The Special Adviser who gave the assurance at the weekend while monitoring the dislodgement of criminals using the old CBD toilets facility as a point of sales of prohibited drugs, stressed that the Office is committed to the eradication and dislodgement of criminal joints from every part of the business districts.

In his words, “In the course of our regular clean-up exercise of refuse and sanitizing the outer marina axis from the back of Batola Car Park down to the Governor’s House, Marina, we have discovered that one of the toilet facilities built for the convenience of traders and visitors to the Island Business District has been turned to a point of sales of illegal drugs and hideout for criminals in the area”.

“Therefore, as a responsive and responsible government, we had to clear the area and arrest miscreants found in the facility. We will not rest on our oars until criminal activities are reduced to barest minimum if not totally eradicated in the axis”, the Special Adviser added.

He noted that similar dislodgment and clean up exercise was carried out under the bridge behind the Onikan stadium last week leading to the discovery of a criminal hideout in the area.

While assuring traders and visitors to the business district of their safety, he called on hoodlums using any government facility in their area for criminal purposes to desist henceforth or face the full wrath of the law.
