The Lagos State Government has enhanced communication with the citizenry by creating awareness and encouraging the use of its array of free but qualitative services provided to facilitate feedback through its various Agencies and online platforms.
Speaking on Wednesday at a one-day symposium tagged “Bouquet of Services Available in Lagos State”, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, the Director General, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, Mr. Toba Otusanya said the ultimate objective of the Public Service is to evolve service delivery mechanisms that meet the expectations of the Citizenry across all government services.
The Director-General who was represented by the Head of Programmes, Mr. Adeleke Ligali said as a responsive government, the State Government has through its Ministries, Departments and Agencies addressed and met Public expectations through the provision of efficient and effective services.
According to him, the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) has championed a lot of Reforms which have been beneficial to the Citizenry.
“The Service Charter Initiative, for instance, has helped in re-defining service delivery in the State, as it has encouraged the citizenry to challenge government officials to provide excellent services, and Agencies continuously improving on their services”, he said.
He added that to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in the Lagos, the State Government has introduced the Ease of Doing Business, coordinated by the OTCI and has continuously improved on the successes recorded in areas such as setting up a business, registering of property, tax payments, dealing with construction permits, enforcing contracts and protecting minority investors among others.
Speaking further, he said Lagos State Citizensgate, a web and mobile-based platform through which citizens can lodge complaints and provide feedback on various services provided by the government, the DG said the Lagos State Citizensgate is accessible via a web link https://citizensgate.lagosstate.gov.ng/#/ adding that the software applications are available for download at Google Play Store on Android and Apple Store on Apple iOS mobile devices.
He, therefore, encouraged Lagos Citizens to inform government through this portal of problems or issues occurring in their communities and beyond, and also lodge a complaint of any service failure they might have encountered on the website.
The symposium, organised by the State government to create awareness of government services to the citizenry, had representatives of various Agencies of government, Professionals, Market Men and Women, Traditional Rulers, Artisans and Human Rights Organisations amongst others in attendance.
