Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today inaugurated a Tribunal of Inquiry to look into all Chieftaincy disputes and matters in the State, just as he charged the members to be objective and discharge their duties with integrity, diligence and honesty.
Governor Ambode, who was represented at the event by Mr. Muslim Folami, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs & Community Affairs, stated that members of the newly inaugurated Tribunal should see the assignment as an opportunity to serve the people of the State for the next three years.
He implored the Tribunal members to always verify claims and listen to evidence from all parties, as the State Government will rely on their wealth of knowledge, findings and recommendations to make pronouncements.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Mr. Fola Padonu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, admonished the distinguished members of the Tribunal to see the appointment as a call to serve because they have excelled in their chosen career with integrity, urging them to discharge their duties without fear and favour.
On her part, the Chairman of Tribunal, Hon. Justice Titilola Ojikutu-Oshode (Rtd), expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for the great honour and privilege of being re-appointed as the Chairman and pledged that the opportunity would be used to serve the people and State Government.
Other members of the Tribunal of Inquiry on Chieftaincy Matters include Engr. Jimoh Fatai Kazeem, Mr. Nojeeb Ola Agunbiade, Chief Oladapo Atinsola, and Mrs. Mariam Olaniyi.
