Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, has embarked on a one-week voluntary donation drive from Lagosians as part of efforts to source blood for patients in dire need of transfusion as well as increase the volume in depleted blood banks in some Lagos State medical facilities.

Speaking at the commencement of the five-day exercise, the Medical Director, Dr. Madewa Adebajo asserted that the initiative is aimed at encouraging blood donation at Public hospitals for the benefit of Lagosians whose lives may depend on it.

While recalling that the initiative was the second of such exercise under his administration, Dr. Adebajo promised a sustained commitment to the drive, saying “The previous exercise which was done some months ago provided us with insight for re-modification of the initiative such as creating proper data presentation on numbers of harvested blood pints and utilisation”.

On his part, the Chairman, Blood Transfusion Committee of the hospital, Dr. Olumide Adegbokun stated that no fewer than 500 staffers are expected to participate in five-day blood donation drive across the Lagos metropolis.
