The Lagos State Audit Service Commission has announced the demise of one of their Commissioners, Mrs. Folake Folashade Onabolu, who died on Tuesday, 9th of April 2019, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) after a brief illness.
A statement issued by the Commission stated that Late Mrs. Onabolu started her career with Lagos State Civil Service in the year 2002 as an Assistant Director in Lagos State Treasury Office, adding that she was the first female Certified Forensic Accountant across the entire Public Service in Nigeria and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Born on 11th of September 1957, Mrs. Onabolu was appointed Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office on 28 February, 2015, retired on 3rd of August, 2015 and was subsequently appointed as a Commission member in the Lagos State Audit Service Commission on 2nd of November, 2015.
During her civil service career, she served in various capacities including Deputy Director of Accounts, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget; Deputy Director of Accounts, Lagos State Government Health Service Commission; Deputy Director of Accounts with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and Director, Teachers Establishment and Pensions Office.
Prior to her death, she served as President of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN).
