The Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) has played host to the staff and students of Riverside Schools, OPIC Estate, Isheri, Lagos who embarked on a familiarisation tour of the institute at its Oshodi headquarters.
The Director of Training at the Institute, Mrs. Bolanle Tiamiyu while receiving the visitors on behalf of the agency, explained that the Institute was established to ensure that all professional drivers were trained, retrained and recertified annually for a safer Lagos and for the benefit of all road users in the State.
Tiamiyu said that the Institute has offices across the five divisions of the State with the necessary equipment to ensure effective training of drivers and also instil in them good driving ethics while on the road.
She commended the Management and staff of the Riverside Schools for exposing the children to practical aspects of classroom learning, stressing that the exposure would go a long way in increasing their knowledge about major causes of road accidents and different means of transportation.
Tiamiyu called on other schools in the State to emulate the gesture to further enlighten school children about road usage and good safety culture.
Responding, Mrs. Folashade Akano, who led the delegation, disclosed that the students were observing their road safety week and had learnt about causes of road accidents, major means of transportation, road symbols and traffic signs.
She expressed delight that the visit to Lagos State Drivers’ Institute increased their knowledge as they were able to learn directly from the trainers in charge.
