In line with the present administration’s policy of keeping records of achievements and contributions of notable Nigerians for posterity, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has joined well-meaning Nigerians to applaud the efforts of a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs. Farida Waziri (OON).
Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the launch and public presentation of her book “Farida Waziri One Step Ahead” held in Abuja recently, commended the efforts of Waziri towards the eradication of crime, corruption and Advanced Fee Fraud in the country.
Represented at the event by a former Presidential aide, Mr. SegunAdeniyi, the Governor said the Five Chapter book will not only serve as a guide to present public office holders, but will also be a reference point to the young generation in all spheres of the nation’s socio-political and economic spheres.
Representative of President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister for Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola praised author as a woman that is tenacious, resilient and passionate about her work.
Mrs. Waziri, according to the President, has been able to document her experiences freely in a democratic dispensation and, therefore, encouraged all to work hard to support democracy in the country.
In her remarks, the author, Mrs. Farida Waziri said the motivation behind her memoirs was simply to put the story of her life together to fill the blanks in the history of Nigeria as part of her contribution to the development of the country, noting that it is a story that reveals the real Farida as against the malicious insinuations made against her.
While stressing that the book covered all facets of her life, Waziri averred that the four tenacious principles that guided her years in service include ‘God Factor’, ‘What Is Worth Doing At All Is Worth Doing Well’, ‘A Good Name Is Better Than Silver and Gold Even Diamond’ and ‘Money Is Not Everything’.
Commending the effort of the author, the former Head of State and Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, said the presence of high calibre dignitaries at the event is a clear testimony of their love for the author who has served her country in her best capacity.
The wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, who represented the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, commended the achievements of the great matriarch, stating that the book is one that can inspire many to push through life despite difficulties and challenges.
