Y2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION: LASG WELCOMES STUDENTS, TEACHERS, OTHERS BACK TO SCHOOL

Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo

… Calls for Vigilance, Adherence to Safety Regulations

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, has welcomed students, teaching, non-teaching staff and administrators back to school for the Y2021/2022 academic session, declaring that the adoption of a uniform academic calendar would enable proper planning to ensure that pupils and students attend school for the required number of days in a term.

Adefisayo, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, commended the concerted efforts of everyone in the education sector for the modest success recorded in the Y2020/2021 session despite the effects of the pandemic.

She also applauded the various award winners among the students in the last academic session, saying “Please keep the flag flying. I encourage others to renew the healthy struggle for success. Our new pupils/students should take the orientation seriously and be determined about success from day one”.

The Commissioner advised all stakeholders in the education sector to remain vigilant and ensure strict adherence to all school safety regulations in the face of COVID-19 and its variants, reiterating the need for school administrators to deploy all strategies for the protection of pupils/students and school personnel.

She charged all pupils and students to remain focussed and improve on their performances, restating the commitment of the Lagos State Government to continue its investment in education infrastructure, capacity development and welfare of school personnel.

“The Lagos education transformation agenda will be vigorously pursued to achieve the desired effect on school governance, personnel and pupils/students’ development in all areas of intervention”, Mrs. Adefisayo stated.

Recall that the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Education, last week released guidelines for resumption of all private and public schools in the State from Monday 13th September.

However, the guidelines further stated that boarding students in the Lagos State Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools will have staggered resumption dates.
