COMMERCE, INVESTMENT COMMISSIONER URGES EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE DELIVERY

Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment (MCCTI), Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem has tasked the leadership of the Ministry to embrace excellence to move the State towards Greater Lagos.

Speaking with the Heads of Departments and Units in her office shortly after taking a tour of the Ministry, Ambrose-Medebem stated that she has always used her previous experiences to leverage current tasks while noting that she will challenge the convention as she is a huge believer in excellence while cherishing feedback.

Her words: “Mr. Governor has said the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment is an incredibly important Ministry to the State, which means we have a lot to do. This is because we do not benchmark Lagos against other States in Nigeria but with other leading cities like Singapore, London and others. As a people, we need to ask ourselves what other leading economies in the first to fourth positions are doing and what we can do differently to move Lagos a notch ahead”.

The Commissioner charged the Departmental and Unit Heads to engage in self-development, knowing their strengths, weaknesses and what they need to do to move to the height desired while noting that she is very transparent and trusting and sitting around the table together is the beginning of building that trust.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of MCCTI, Mrs. Adetutu Oluremi Ososanya, FCA, expressed the desire to have a leader who will take the Ministry to the deserved greater heights, stressing that the Ministry has also been challenging the status quo which is reflected in the restructuring of the State-owned Industrial Hubs, Enterprise Zones and Industrial Sheds.

“We are willing and ready to work with you to achieve the vision of the administration as we do not want to mouth what the Ministry is doing but want it shown through impact on the State’s economy and Nigeria as a whole”, she said.
