EDUCATION DISTRICT II RAMADAN LECTURE: LAGOS HOS TASKS STUDENTS ON STRONG WORK ETHICS
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro has charged students to face their education by working hard and coming out successfully in their examinations and thus increase their employability when they enter the labour market.
Agoro gave this advice at the 2024 Education District II Ramadan lecture organised with the theme ‘Success Through Hard Work’, held recently at Maryland School Complex.
Noting that Ramadan is a period when every believing Muslim in the society identifies with the dictates of religion to benefit through physical and spiritual upliftments, the HOS urged the students and every attendee to be the kind of person that gives 120% in all their endeavours.
While congratulating the students and staff of Education District II, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun said the Ramadan period should be used to help the less privileged people in Society.
He also implored Muslims to use this period to pray for President Bola Tinubu; Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Nigeria and Nigerians for a better life in this challenging period.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, while commending Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the approval of the programme and support received to better the education sector in the State, appealed to students and others at the event to make hard work their watchword for excellent performance.
In his paper presentation, Sheik Abdul Rahaman Ahmad, the Guest Lecturer and Chief Missioner of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, spoke on the theme and described hard work as a consistent and dedicated effort put up to achieve results. He said everyone, including students and civil servants, must have set goals and invest time and resources to succeed.
According to Ahmad, the development of strong work ethics, staying focused, prioritising goals, and consistency are some of the indispensable factors of success
The high point of the event was the quiz and Quranic competition that was held amongst the students in Education District II which comprises Kosofe, Ikorodu and Somolu zones for both Senior and Junior Secondary Schools categories.
Schools that performed creditably were presented with gifts and prizes.
