The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, on Monday, commenced the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP) for beneficiaries.
The paid internship programme offers post-NYSC graduates the chance to start a career while developing important behavioural competencies, emotional intelligence, and soft skills.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, in his remarks before the commencement of the training at the LCCI Training Centre, Ikeja, said the Pre-Internship Programme entails a comprehensive training and development stage that includes instructor-led sessions, virtual learning, and self-paced e-learning.
He established that Participants will receive stipends for the three weeks as motivation and performance enhancement while gaining essential employability skills.
Ajigbotafe disclosed further that the selected graduates will undergo rigorous training in employability skills covering essential areas such as the picture of success, understanding and making career choices, finding and securing dream jobs, professionalism and others towards equipping them with the tools needed to succeed in the modern workplace.
He urged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity while expressing the determination of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to tackle unemployment in the state.
The training is also being held simultaneously in other centres, including Digital Age Training Centre, Public Service Staff Development Center, Centre for Management Development, Ojo Local Government Training Hall and Chemline Nig Ltd Training Centre among others spread across the five divisions of Lagos State.
