The Lagos State Cooperative College has introduced two new fields of study, namely: Micro-Finance Enterprise Development; and Cooperative Economics and Management at Ordinary National Diploma (OND) level only, as part of efforts to enhance capacity development of the movement in the State.
A release signed by the Provost of the College, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, noted that part of the objectives for the introduction of the two new courses are to empower Nigerians with the needed skills and educational knowledge to manage small, medium and cooperative business enterprises successfully.
He explained that cooperative business activities in Lagos State, as well as in Nigeria, serve as a financial hub to many small-scale businesses in the informal sector economy and could be better exploited for maximum benefit with the availability of more knowledgeable and skilled personnel in the field.
Ojomu added that the two programmes would not only provide opportunities for Nigerians to pursue careers in Cooperative Enterprise but will also generate more employment opportunities, especially for those craving self-employment or are endowed with the talent of entrepreneurship.
While informing that admission for the two courses will commence in October 2021 for the 2021/2022 academic session, the Provost implored prospective students to visit http://lagoscooperativecollege.com to download the application forms after the payment of N7,500 before it closes on Thursday, 5th of August, 2021.
Lagos Cooperative College is a specialised cooperative institution established by the Lagos State Government and mandated to provide training, learning and research to cooperators and members of the public.
