LAGOS FIRST LADY HOSTS FAMILY EASTER FIESTA FOR SCHOOL PUPILS

… Urges Children to Imbibe Spirit of Tolerance, Peaceful Co-Existence, Sacrifice

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu on Saturday hosted school children from Public, Private and Special Schools across the state in commemoration of this year’s Easter season celebration.

The event, held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, was attended by top government officials from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, among others.

Addressing the participants at the event, the wife of the Governor encouraged the children not to lose track of the significance of the Easter Season or get carried away by the pomp and pageantry that is usually associated with the Easter season.

She urged them to instead imbibe the spirit of tolerance, peaceful co-existence, and sacrificial lifestyle as demonstrated by Jesus Christ throughout His lifetime.

The First Lady underscored the significance of the Easter season and its enduring message of hope, renewal, and redemption encapsulated in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The wife of the Governor stated that the Family Easter Fiesta has evolved into a cherished annual tradition since its inception in 2021 by her Office, symbolising the essence of Easter through its enriching festivities.

The event with the theme: “Power of Resurrection”, taken from Philippians 3:10, according to the First Lady, sought to deepen participants’ spiritual connections and foster a renewed sense of faith and commitment.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu articulated the significance of this theme, highlighting its call for a deeper relationship with Christ amidst life’s trials and tribulations while also instilling confidence in the promise of tomorrow’s blessings.

Also, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat urged the attendees, especially the younger generation, to exemplify the timeless virtues of tolerance, compassion, and selflessness displayed by Jesus Christ, emphasising the pivotal role of children in shaping the future.

She encouraged the children to honour their parents, pursue education with diligence, and uphold moral integrity as they navigate life’s journey.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun and the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, in their Goodwill Messages, appreciated the First Lady for creating an avenue for the children to also enjoy the fun of the Easter celebration.

They seized the opportunity of the event to educate the children about the interventions of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in the educational sector and several initiatives aimed at promoting social welfare in the State.

Also in attendance at the event were the Chairman, Lagos State Universal Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu; Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Rev. Dr. Taiwo Oluwarotimi; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religion, Very Revd Bukola Adeleke and Prophetess Ambassador Stella Iseoma Okorafor, among others.

There was a symbolic Easter drama and song presentation by the Lagos State Schools Theatrical Troupe and lots of gifts, games, music and other forms of entertainment for all the children.
