The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), has commended PharmAccess Foundation for developing and handing over the Regulations’ Portal to the Agency.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, at the handing over, held recently at Alausa, Ikeja, disclosed that the journey of the Regulations portal, commenced in 2020 and this led to the development of the portal which is the first of its kind for any of the State Social Health Insurance Agency (SSHIA) in the country.
Dr. Zamba explained that after the development, the Portal was domiciled with PharmAccess in order to monitor its operations and workability. She added that with the handing over, LASHMA, through its Regulations Department, would be able to successfully operate the portal to suit the operations of the Agency.
She promised that the Agency would judiciously utilise the portal so that the purpose for which it was designed for, would be achieved.
The Permanent Secretary said that the handing over is timely as it has commenced stakeholders engagements on the implementation of the Executive Order recently signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and documentation of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act.
She urged all other donor partners in the State to support the Agency and ensure that togetherness, Lagos State realises Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the State.
The Country Director, PharmAccess Foundation, Mrs. Njide Ndili remarked that the Foundation embarked on the journey because of its long time relationship with Lagos State and the belief that the State Government would achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in no time.
She added that with the mandatory health insurance in Lagos State, the sky’s the limit as out-of-pocket payment for medical bills would soon be reduced drastically.
The Country Director said that the Foundation is ready to support the Agency, especially in the area of digital transformation of health insurance and laboratories among others.
Njide said that we are in the world of technological advancement now and that LASHMA should not hesitate to inform the Foundation if there is any spectacular success recorded with the portal.
The Coordinator, Regulations, Mr. Tosin Awosika applauded the Foundation for the kind gesture extended to LASHMA. He said that the design of the portal has met the needs of the Agency but with the mandatory nature of the Health Insurance now, the Agency would continue to improve on the portal as the need arises.
