LASPARK SANITISES PARKS TO ENSURE SAFETY DURING CHRISTMAS

In its continuous drive to ensure a greener, safer and healthier environment across the State, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has intensified steps to sanitise degraded landscaped and beautified sites, including criminal hideouts in the State to ensure a hitch-free Christmas celebration.

Speaking today in Ikeja, the General Manager, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola revealed that radical intervention activities by the Agency have helped in revamping degenerated sites across the State.

While analysing the significance of the exercise, she pointed out that the dimension of the campaign reinforces the desire of the Agency to implant enduring environmental projects towards meeting the Smart City Agenda of the State Government.

“Road setbacks, road embankments, loops, medians and open spaces across the State have been aggressively sanitised and upgraded with trees and beautiful flowers in line with the Agency’s mandate of ensuring a greener and healthier environment across the length and breadth of the State.

According to her, the Agency has carried out strategic interventions and sensitisation along Federal House, Marina;  Airport Loop, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way; Maryland Embankment and Otedola Under Bridge, all in Ikeja.

Other areas include Festac Town,  Amuwo Odofin, Ifako, Oworonsoki Express Way, Ikorodu, Iyana Ipaja, Ebute-Metta, Ojodu and Alausa.

Adebiyi-Abiola noted that the various interventions carried out will improve the security of lives and property in the State.

She, therefore, urged citizens to desist from acts capable of undermining the efforts of the Government towards making our environment a better place to live, adding that LASPARK is more committed than ever to prosecute anyone or group of people who engage in indiscriminate tree-felling and pruning as well as littering and damaging of parks or gardens infrastructure anywhere within the State.

Meanwhile, the General Manager has enjoined Parents and Guardians to ensure their children have a feel of the recreational parks spread across the State during the festive season, stressing that government has provided the needed mechanism to ensure a fun-filled experience in all the public parks across the State.

“Parks like the Johnson, Jakande, Tinubu (JJT) Park, Alausa; Ndubuisi Kanu Park(NKP), Alausa, Ikeja; Muri Okunola Park (MOP), Victoria Island; Rafiu Jafojo Recreational Park, Shasha in Alimosho; Ikorodu Recreational Park, Ebute Iga, Ikorodu and Jibowu Recreational Park, Yaba have been equipped with play items to give the children a memorable experience” she said.

The LASPARK Boss assured residents of the State that no community will be left out of the greening programme as the State Government is determined to establish more recreational parks as well as improve the ambience of all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the State.
