LSCPWB HOLDS ONE-DAY SEMINAR FOR OPERATIONS STAFF

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) has held a one-day seminar for operations staff in preparation for a hitch-free pilgrimage exercise to the Holy Lands coming up soon.

The seminar, which was held recently at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, was aimed at ensuring that the operations staff were enlightened about their roles and responsibilities during the pilgrimage exercise.

The Board Secretary of LSCPWB, Mrs. Florence Yetunde Gbafe, while addressing participants, stated that they had been carefully selected from amongst medical and media practitioners, administrators and clerics, who will be seeing to the physical and spiritual well-being of the pilgrims while on pilgrimage.

Gbafe further stated that participants should consider this call to serve as an avenue to appreciate the Lagos State Government for the immense support received and be prepared to render excellent service delivery to the pilgrims.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Adewunmi Gbolahan Ogunsanya admonished the operations staff to be worthy ambassadors of the state and ensure to follow the rules and regulations set by the guides and leaders. “We must comfort ourselves in the best way possible so that at the end of the exercise, we will have a great memory of our activities during this year’s pilgrimage”, she added.

Also, speaking at the event was the Chairman of the Board, Bishop Babatunde Akinpelu-Johnson, who admonished participants to use their expertise to serve the pilgrims as worthy ambassadors of the Lagos State Government.

On his part, Mr. Oluwayemisi Adeyemi, a board member, pointed out that the board has put a lot in place to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims. While appreciating Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his support, he stated that arrangements for the safety of pilgrims, their hotel accommodation, and transportation were already sorted out during the pre visit exercise a few months back.

He emphatically stated that standards will not be compromised when it comes to the safety and convenience of Pilgrims.

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Religion (Christian), Very Revd. Adebukola Adeleke pointed out that the operations staff should be great ambassadors representing not just the state government but also their families and the body of Christ.

Adeleke proudly stated that the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board is a welfare board and not a commercial board. “We are after pilgrims welfare and not the profit”, he stated.
