The Director-General, Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Dr. Senukon Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison, has charged the staff of New Towns Development Authority (NTDA) to prepare themselves for the acquisition of necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes required to perform effectively and efficiently as public servants and also build illustrious careers in the most forward-looking Public Service in Nigeria.
Ajose-Harrison, who gave the charge at the opening of the Special Induction Course for staff of the Authority at the PSSDC, Magodo, Lagos, stated that the course would orientate and familiarise them with the laid down work procedures and regulations, adding that they would acquire core skills relevant to the Public Service and Public Administration in the State.
He further stated that participants would be exposed to topics including an overview of the Lagos State Development Plan and the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, Lagos State Public Service: History, Structure and Functions, and synopsis of the Lagos State Public Service Rules 2015.
Other topics to be covered, according to him, include Managing Public Finance, Administrative Procedures in the Public Service and the Relevance of ICT in the Public Service delivery.
He assured participants that experienced resource persons would facilitate their learning and encouraged them to participate fully in all sessions in order to benefit immensely from the wealth of experience of the facilitators, which would justify the expenditure of public resources in providing the learning and development intervention.
In his remarks, the General Manager, NTDA, Tpl. John Aboyeji, congratulated the staff on the opportunity and privilege to be part of the induction training, which would provide the wherewithal to discharge their official responsibilities with the full understanding of the ethics, norms and values of the Lagos State Public Service.
He expressed the confidence that PSSDC Faculty would provide very sound professional training that has been its hallmark for a long time.
Aboyeji, therefore, charged the participants who were drawn from various departments in NTDA, to resolve to improve their orientation, service delivery and conduct as seasoned career Public Servants they hope to become.
