SGBV: LAGOS DSVA TAKES SENSITISATION TO IKOSI ISHERI
The Lagos DSVA has continued its statewide sensitisation efforts on the need to stem the spate of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the State by engaging with CDCs in Ikosi-Isheri during its monthly meeting to brief the members on pertinent issues.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stressed the need for sustained awareness initiatives. She noted that the rise in continuous engagement had encouraged many survivors to break the culture of silence, patriarchy and other reasons earlier experienced in the State and increased cases reported at the Agency.
Mr. Damilare Adewusi, Head of Community Engagement, highlighted the role of community leaders as mandated reporters, emphasising that they must report and not conceal SGBV cases.
He outlined different reporting methods, introduced available Family Support Units (FSUs), and shared the toll-free 08000333333 for hotline information. As well as other SGBV-related materials to the participants in attendance.
The Ikosi-Isheri CDC Chairman, Chief Adekoya Adeshina thanked the government and the Agency for their efforts and assured of the community’s commitment to supporting the fight against SGBV.
