The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe have officially assumed duties at the Ministry.
Addressing the Management and Staff of the Ministry, the duo affirmed their readiness to start work immediately, noting that the State tourism sector is about to witness a new era of development never seen before. They, however, solicited the cooperation of the workforce and stakeholders towards attaining the vision of Mr. Governor for the sector in Lagos State.
“Standing before you are two people ready to work from day one and Tourism is about to witness a level of development never seen before please we solicit your cooperation to make this a reality”, they asserted.
Earlier, while welcoming the Commissioner and Special Adviser to the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oloruntoyin Atekoja said the Ministry is glad to have them and pledged the full cooperation and support of the workforce in ensuring that set goals and objectives are achieved.
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka, the immediate past Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, started her career at International Standard Insurers in Insurance Law before moving to full-time legal practice and litigation with Yemi Peters and Co, and later to B.O Benson Law Office where she worked with the best hands in probates and land matters
The Commissioner was instrumental in the conversion of the Lagos State Real Estate Department into a full-fledged Agency known as the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), which amongst other functions sees to the registration of Real Estate Practitioners/Organisations and resolution of disputes among players while curbing fraudulent practices in the sector
The new Special Adviser, Mr. Idris Aregbe, was the Youth Organising Secretary of APC in Lagos State and also a Cultural Ambassador who is popularly known for his annual programme on Culture called ‘Culturati’.
Aregbe is renowned for his passion for community development and promoting youth inclusion in governance. His appointment as Special Adviser is a testament to his hard work and dedication to public service.
