WATERFRONT MINISTRY CELEBRATES CREATIVITY, INNOVATION WEEK

The Lagos State Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development on Wednesday kicked started activities marking its first ever creativity and Innovation Week themed: “Creativity and Innovation Awareness’’ with a sensitization walk by the Creativity and Innovation Committee (CIC) members to all Departments and Units of the Ministry.

A Train-the-Trainers workshop was also held for all Heads of Departments and Units on the dynamics of Creativity and Innovation in the development of a vibrant Lagos State Public Service.

In her remarks at the workshop, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Lolade Aina said the CIC week is part of the innovations introduced by the CIC Committee, the first of its kind in the history of the Lagos State Public Service to promote the importance of Creativity and Innovation in the State.

Aina, represented by the Director, Human Resource and Administration, Mrs. Kehinde Fasuyi, urged the Heads of Departments and Units to cooperate and support the Committee in order for them to be able to work optimally and fashion out ideas and innovations aimed at moving the Ministry and the State forward.

She charged them to encourage their subordinates to think outside the box and bring up ideas for the betterment of the state. While congratulating the CIC members, the Permanent Secretary further charged them not to rest on their oars with their achievements so far but put in more efforts as they are the think tank of the Ministry

In her address, the CIC Ambassador I for the Ministry, Engr. (Mrs.) Olubukunola Onafuwa said the essence of the celebration is a reminder of the pivotal role CIC is playing in proffering solutions to challenges faced within the Public Service that can be beneficial to the MDAs and the entire State in general.

She added that the theme of week highlights the ever increasing importance of Creative and Innovative Ideas in solving the multifaceted challenges of the times. Engr Onafuwa said the activities lined up for the week celebration would reflect their unwavering commitment to advancing the innovation potentials in officers to the benefits of the Ministry and the entire Public Service.

She appealed to the HoDs and HoUs to actively engage in the process with them as they envision a future where Creativity and Innovation transforms the State into a 21st Century economy.

Highlight of the event was the launching of the CIC stickers and idea boxes by the Head of Survey Unit of the Ministry Surv. (Mrs.) Folasade Kassim.
