… Unveils ‘Apata Imo’, Holds Ramadhan Lecture
Lagos State Education District II has held a grand reception for four of its teachers, who were among the 13 recently recognised as outstanding officers in the State’s education sector by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, with the presentation of brand new cars to each of the teachers as a way of appreciating their commitment to the growth of education.
In her address during the reception held at the headquarters of the District II in Maryland, Ikeja, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, described the event as “four-in-one”, being the grand reception for the award-winning teachers; the unveiling of ‘Apata Imo’ plaque donated to the District by the Association of Akomolede Yoruba ati Asa; the holding of the annual Ramadhan lecture and the birthday celebration of the District’s TG/PS.
Adekanye extolled the teachers for making the District proud by winning several awards and competitions last year, stressing that there are enough reasons to be grateful to God, particularly for the series of achievements recorded during the past year in spite of the challenges that confronted the educational sector globally.
She said, “Today’s celebration is a way of re-affirming our confidence in the abilities of our teachers and also to spur them for improved performances while also encouraging others not recognised yet to be more dedicated to their duties.”
Expressing gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his tremendous gesture towards the education sector, for recognising the worth of teachers and motivating them in all aspects, Adekanye declared that Mr. Governor is doing his best to make the lives of all teachers better in Lagos State by rewarding outstanding performances.
“Excellence has now become the new trademark of Education District II. I wish to encourage you all to emulate the feat so far accomplished by the District and keep the light burning. We must keep doing well and winning more laurels at every competition”, she said.
Mrs. Buhari Ovinuyon, on behalf of other celebrated award recipients, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration for making deliberate efforts to uplift the living standard of teachers and for recognising hard work which serves as a way of challenging them to do more.
A Muslim Cleric, Alhaji Saed Naheem, who gave the Ramadan Lecture at the event, admonished the teachers and all Lagosians to uphold the tenets of truth and honesty, just as he enjoined them to render their services to humanity and God Almighty.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Akomolede plaque to felicitate with Education District II on the numerous feats recorded by the District and to also mark the special birthday ceremony of the TG/PS, who doubles as the Chairman of the Association.
Recall that four teachers from Education District II, Mrs. Buhari Ovinuyon; Mr. Rasheed Bolanle Odenike; Mr. Akindele A. Akinbode and Mr. Temitope Gbadamosi, were among the 13 teachers who received brand new cars from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for outstanding performance in the education sector recently.
