EDUCATION DISTRICT I HOLDS LAST DAY IN OFFICE FOR RETIREES
The Lagos State Education District I recently celebrated some members of its workforce who statutorily retired from the State’s Public service, with a call for continuous contribution of their quota to the advancement of the education sector.
Speaking at the event held at the Government Senior College, Agege, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District, Barrister Margaret Titilayo Solarin, advised the retired officers to continue being relevant in their various domains and ensure that the quality standard of education which they pursued while in service is not thwarted.
She appraised the supportive roles of the retirees from the District’s three zones, namely Agege, Alimosho and Ifako-Ijaiye, just as she expressed her delight with them for being in good health to witness their retirement celebration.
The TG/PS thanked the State Government for the unflinching commitment towards uplifting education standards in the State and also for approving the quarterly celebration of the Last Day in Office.
In her remark, the representative of the Public Service Office at the event, Mrs. Rashidat Olatunji, conveyed the best wishes of the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola to the retirees and appreciated them for their contributions to the social development of younger ones in the State.
She disclosed that the government has put in place several retirement packages for the retirees including skills acquisition programmes for interested retirees as a way of keeping them busy and avoiding boredom.
The representative of the Public Service Office advised the retired officers to take good care of their health, reduce the intake of sugar and feed more on fruits and vegetables, indulge in light exercise, invest their funds wisely and be more prudent in retirement.
Mrs. Olatunji, on behalf of the State Government, thereafter presented a certificates to the retirees for their excellent, diligent and exemplary conduct in the service of Lagos State with gifts from the Office of the Head of Service.
Gift items were equally presented to the retirees by the Tutor-General /Permanent Secretary of the District.
