… As Monthly Sanitation Competition At Old, New Secretariat Commences
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has emerged as the cleanest establishment in Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, and the Old Secretariat complexes for April, after the just concluded appraisal of the environmental status of all Ministries, Agencies and Departments.
A statement issued by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Environmental Services, Mrs. Belinda Odeneye, added that the Civil Service Commission emerged as the first runner up while the Office of the Deputy Governor took the third position.
She explained that a thorough environmental appraisal was carried out across all the 48 MDAs within the main secretariat and old secretariat complexes from Monday, 12th of April to Thursday, 15th of April, 2021 to select the winners.
The Permanent Secretary stated that Key Performance Indicators (KPI) contained in the checklist developed by the Sanitation Services Department of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources was used in the ratings.
Mrs. Odeneye reiterated that in arriving at the winners, due cognisance was taken of how compliant the MDAs were in terms of hygiene and proper sanitation.
Recall that the monthly sanitation appraisal came into being by the approval contained in the HOS Circular with Ref No: CIR/HOS/024 dated 23rd March, 2021.
The competition, which is expected to be a monthly affair, was initiated to encourage healthy environmental competition amongst the MDAs.
