… As Eko Youth Conference Holds

The Lagos State Government, in partnership with EbonyLife Place, has organised a youth-oriented programme tagged “The Eko Youth Conference”, to harness the leadership qualities and entrepreneurial achievements of resident youths. 

The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, in her address at the gathering comprising of young entrepreneurs across different sectors of the creative industry, explained that “Eko Youth” is one of several initiatives aimed at identifying and empowering talented leaders and entrepreneurs of the future. 

Her words: “Lagos State benefits from innovation and enterprise of youths across a range of industries, particularly in the technology and creative sectors. Young people bring fresh ideas and create new ways of solving problems and we should look for how to further encourage and recognise these young achievers in the area of content creation, fashion, women leadership, sports and entrepreneurship”.

Akinbile-Yussuf, represented at the event by the Director, Research and Development in the Ministry, Mrs. Yetunde Simpson, said that the State Government has equally set aside loan opportunities for the benefits of youths with good business ideas.

“The State Government is willing to assist your businesses, provided you meet the requirements. You can approach Lagos State Employment Trust Fund for more details on how you can also be beneficiaries of this noble gesture from the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration”, she stated. 

Applauding the idea of ‘Pitchaton’ for youths with credible and convincing business ideas to present their proposals to industry leaders at the event, the Commissioner advised the beneficiaries of financial support, after presenting creative ideas at the Conference. to also use their resources, talents and knowledge to impact others positively.

The CEO of EbonyLife Place, Mo Abudu, said that the Lagos State Government made sponsorship of the Youth Conference and several other programmes under the Eko Culture Series possible.

“It is wonderful to have this partnership with the Lagos State Government, as well as the support of other organisations, to provide an innovative and enterprise platform for these young people to excel”, she said.

The Eko Youth Conference is the August edition of the monthly Tourism, Arts and Culture event, tagged “Eko Culture Series”, usually hosted at EbonyLife Place in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
