The management of Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, has refuted the allegation contained in an online report by one Mr. Daniel Ojukwu of Foundation for Investigative Journalism, who alleged that a staff extorted an accident victim brought to the hospital, describing the report as untrue and fabricated.
Reacting to the viral report with the title: “How Doctor Led Alimosho Staff to Swindle Road Accident Victim”, the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Samuel Ayodapo Soyinka, said the report was a misrepresentation of what transpired when the accident victim was brought to the facility, maintaining that the hospital remains a reputable Secondary Health provider committed to offering medical care services to all residents of the State.
According to him, “The hospital staff in the report was erroneously referred to as a Doctor. It was a male nurse attending to the patient after the doctor had seen the patient while inside the tricycle, as the casualty section was fully occupied at the time of the incident”.
“First Aid was administered by the male murse to stabilise the patient after being reviewed by the doctor. The Patient was, thereafter, referred to LASUTH for expert management due to the head injury sustained”, he added.
The Medical Director also explained that the said Pharmacy in the hospital, which is the bone of contention of the report, is a Fee Paying Pharmacy that is privately owned and operated. It is not being managed by the hospital in any way.
“However, as shown in the lower-left corner of the receipt, published in the online report, the balance due to the Patient was indicated on the paper. This should not be misconstrued or misinterpreted as an attempt to swindle the patient as insinuated by the report”, Dr. Soyinka clarified.
While noting that some other issues raised by the online blog, could not be immediately substantiated, he revealed that the management of the hospital will make further findings into the allegations made by Mr. Daniel Ojukwu, assuring the general public that appropriate actions will be taken after investigations.
The Medical Director reiterated the commitment of the entire staff of the hospital to a continuous, passionate and enhanced service delivery to the public at all times.
