The Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital, Ikorodu, Dr. Taiwo Kamorudeen Hassan, has bagged the Role Model Award at a ceremony organised by Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) as part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary of Ikorodu Oga Day.
The award, which was given to honour indigenes of Ikorodu who have distinguished themselves by contributing actively to the upliftment of the town, had different categories such as Fellow and Associate Awards, the Cultural Heritage Award and the Role Model Award.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Managing Director promised to remain committed to achieving greater strides for the General Hospital, Ikorodu, in particular, and Ikorodu Division in general as he expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi, his traditional chiefs, the Chairman and entire members of IKODASS as well as the Management Team and entire staff of General Hospital, Ikorodu.
“Without your support and belief in me, all these achievements would be impossible,” he stated.
In his motivational speech to the youths at the event, which was also planned to mentor them, Dr. Hassan implored them to focus more on their education as well as cultivate and maintain good character.
He said: “I want you to lead by example and exhibit leadership qualities in your various capacities while leveraging tools and technology to achieve your future goals. I charge you to rise up to today’s realities and bring glory to our dear town, Ikorodu”.
The Chairman of IKODASS, Mr. Hakeem Rotimi Erogbogbo, stated that the growth and prosperity of any community depends on positive mentoring of its youth, hence, the Role Model Award recognises individuals, who have gone above and beyond to represent their society by embodying its core values and instilling them in the younger generation.
“Dr. Taiwo Kamorudeen Hassan, a prince from the Sekumade of Ipakodo Royal Family in Ikorodu, was bestowed the Role Model Award after a painstaking assessment of his achievements within and outside Ikorodu, especially as Medical Director of General Hospital, Ikorodu, a position he assumed in year 2020. He has indeed represented Ikorodu Division well with his first class style of leadership. I congratulate him for this well-deserved honour. However, he should know that for whom much is given, much is expected. He should not rest on his oars”, he said.
While presenting the award plaque to Dr. Taiwo Hassan, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi expressed his heartfelt satisfaction that the Role Model Award was bestowed on the recipient.
His words: “When you put a round peg in a round hole, outstanding successes and achievements are always the by-products. Dr. Hassan has never failed Ikorodu in his professional endeavours. I pray there would never be room for let-downs in his activities as the Medical Director of General Hospital, Ikorodu”.
The Role Model Award is an addition to many others the Medical Director received in recent times. Just a few days ago, the hospital was named the ‘Best Chartered Hospital’ by the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), while Mrs. Catherine Martins won the ‘Best Service Delivery Director’ in Lagos State.
