NEWLY APPOINTED TG/PS FOR EDUCATION DISTRICT III ASSUMES OFFICE
Seeks Support, Cooperation of Members of Staff
The new Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District III, Dr. (Mrs.) Idowu Olufunke Oyetola, has officially assumed office with a plea for the support and cooperation of management and other members of staff towards actualising her mandate.
In her address during a brief welcome ceremony, Dr. Oyetola urged the entire workforce not to see her as a boss but rather as a teammate that needs to work with colleagues to achieve the singular goal of advancing the State’s Educational sector in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, especially the ‘Education and Technology’ pillar.
She said: “I can be very strict when it comes to deliverables. So anytime you see me ‘shout’, just know that there is a pressing task that we all must accomplish at that particular time. Please try and cooperate with me and let us steer the boat of Education District III to enviable heights together”.
“However, I am very humble and quick to apologise anytime for any wrongdoing. I am always ready and willing to say ‘I am sorry’ regardless of who the affected person is, even if the staff is on the lowest Grade Level”, the TG/PS stated.
In a goodwill message, the TG/PS of Education District I, Barrister (Mrs.) Titilayo Solarin, assured the new Permanent Secretary that the District will give her a family treatment because the District sees the entire workforce as one indivisible family.
She described the new Permanent Secretary as a very unassuming teacher and an administrator who is always ready to learn from the staff not minding her educational background and qualifications.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, reminded the entire staff of the District of the need to give maximum support to Dr. Oyetola, saying that her success lies in the hands of the entire workforce of the District.
Also speaking, the immediate Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of District III, Dr. (Mrs.) Yinka Ayandele, felicitated the new appointee, praying that her tenure will witness uncommon successes and achievements beyond all her predecessors in office.
Other dignitaries in attendance at the event were the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District VI, Mrs. Oludara Oyebisi Okelola; representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), family members, old schoolmates, church members and Directors from Ministry of Education, among others.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretary is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), a distinguished educationist, goal-getter and astute administrator with a doctorate in Education Administration.
