FILM TRAINING: LAGOS CREATIVE INDUSTRY INITIATIVE COMMITTEE VISITS TRAINING VENUE
… As Badagry Youths Eulogise Governor Sanwo-Olu
Members of the Lagos State Creative Industry initiative (LACI) Committee have a paid visit to the venue of the ongoing film training for selected youths at the Badagry Theatre as part of their oversight functions.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of LACI, Mrs. Toyin Ogunlana, said the training programme is a collaborative effort of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Africa Film Academy (AFA).
She expressed satisfaction with the developmental pace of the students, advising them to take pay attention during the training because Lagos State Government has invested so much in the programme to discover, nurture and mentor new talents.
On her part, a member of the committee and Executive Secretary, Film and Video Censors Board, Mrs. Bukola Agbaminoja, admonished the students to take maximum advantage of the training and urged them to seek support of the Board in any area of need, especially access to interest-free loans provided by the Lagos State Government.
The Head of Studies at the Academy, Mr. Keppy Ekpenyong, posited that the Academy has met its set objectives to discover new talents, nurture and mentor them to become useful and responsible citizens.
While welcoming members of the LACI committee to the venue of the ongoing film training, the students expressed happiness about the programme, commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for extending the project to the area.
One of the students, Demayon Cornelious Oluwaseun, said he has gained a lot from the ongoing film training, averring that the programme has taken him away from smuggling and other social vices prevalent in the area.
His words: “We used to think that Badagry, being far away from the city centre, has been forgotten but for Governor Sanwo-Olu to bring the training to Badagry shows that he cares for all citizens of the State, irrespective of where they reside in Lagos”.
Another student, Michelle Chukwuma, said being in the training programme has given her the opportunity to meet and learn from Nollywood Stars, adding that the experience garnered so far is invaluable and amazing.
She expressed her gratitude to the Lagos State Government, particularly Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the life-changing opportunity.
